The beta testing for WordPress 4.6 is now over and it is now available to download. If you are already running WordPress then you can update to version 4.6  via the dashboard. Wordpres 4.6 ‘pepper’ has been named in honor of jazz saxophonist Park Frederick “Pepper” Adams III

This new version of WordPress comes with a number of improvements and new features, here are the most useful.

Broken Link Checker

Broken links are bad for you users and bad for your SEO. WordPress now has a really useful broken link checker fully built in to the platform. Now when you add links in to your content WordPress will check the link for you and notify you if there is a problem. Broken links will now be highlighted in a similar manner to bad spelling, making errors obvious before you publishing.

Native Dashboard Fonts

The WordPress dashboard can sometimes take a little while to load, some of this is due to the way it loaded fonts in the past. Now the dashboard gets a speed boost by using fonts you already have installed on your system.

Content Recovery

Im sure you know the feeling when you type out a well crafted 1000 word blog post and then something happens and you accidentally lose all of your unsaved work. WordPress 4.6 aims to try and help this sort of situation by saving your content in your web browser as you type hopefully saving many people the headache of lost work.

Same page updates

No longer will you have to go through multiple pages when you want to update your themes of plugins. Updates can now all be completed on the page you are already on, simply click ‘install’ or ‘update’ and the process will be performed without having to leave the page.

There are lots of other improvements under the bonnet so if you’d like to take a look at what else you can expect from the new update visit the official page here
